God is so B.I.G!!
Before Jess and I left for our almost week adventure we were covered in prayer by Cody and Seanie. They asked for covering over the trip and for divine appointments. MAN did God show up or what!!!! We are not even a full day into the trip and we were mightily used by God. As we went to the store i walked across the street to take a picture of the Mr. Pickels sandwich shop for my blog when a lady walked up to me and said “Excuse me miss but do you know where another shelter is in town?”. Me not being from around Modesto I saddly did not have an answer for her. She started to cry and explain to me that she has been homeless for only a little while and was to afraid to spend one more night in the park. The lady had marks on her face and was bleeding from her chin. There was so much fear in her poor face. My heart just started to break for her. Then Jessica and her mom (not a believer) came over (noticed it was taking me some time to take my photo and get back to them). As they walked up we asked them being from here if there were other shelters for this lady around the area. The ladies name was Barrel, I’m not sure that was her real name but that is what she told us.
I am going to pass this story off to Jess now :) (she is better at writing then me anyways).
Ha I don’t think so….=)
So she told us she had been homeless for four months, her home had been burned down supposedly. She was very fearful of getting raped or stabbed at night. She said she was a believer. We asked if we could pray for her, then as we prayed she was gently weeping. She did not ask for money and refused any lunch we offerred to buy her. So we went into the grocery store and bought her some goods: bread, peanut butter, crackers, toothpaste, toothbrush, bananas, sunblock, pepper spray, water, gatorade, socks, chapstick, etc. We gave it to her as we left she was so thankful and grateful.
It was so sweet to be used by God with such a short amount of time of being here!!! Praise Jesus for His love for His children. Pray for her that she would know and love Jesus more and for protection in this session of her life.
Jess and I are both very humbled and excited to see more of what God has in store for our little trip.
love.
